JOB TITLE: FACILITIES AND UTILITIES SYSTEMS TECHNICIAN
POSITION SUMMARY
The Facilities and Utilities Systems Technician is responsible for the continuous operation, maintenance, and repair of all critical building utility systems. This role ensures that utility infrastructure—including steam, compressed air, HVAC, and water purification—operates at peak efficiency to support plant operations. The technician manages daily rounds, executes preventative maintenance, and leads emergency repairs.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
SYSTEM OPERATIONS AND RELIABILITY
Perform daily inspections and record performance data for steam, compressed air, and HVAC systems.
Use automation and monitoring software to ensure systems function within specified tolerances.
Lead the restoration of building utilities following power outages or system failures.
MAINTENANCE AND TECHNICAL EXECUTION
Diagnose, repair, and replace mechanical components including pumps, motors, VFDs, valves, and bearings.
Troubleshoot electrical controls and distribution systems to identify root causes of failure.
Execute scheduled preventative maintenance (PM) and reactive work orders.
Assist process teams with specialized tasks like equipment sanitization (CIP/COP) and valve rebuilding.
DOCUMENTATION AND PROJECT OVERSIGHT
Maintain an inventory of critical spare parts for facility and process equipment.
Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and training materials.
Coordinate and supervise external contractors, including plumbers, electricians, and welders.
QUALIFICATIONS
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in industrial facilities maintenance.
TECHNICAL SKILLS: Strong proficiency in electrical control troubleshooting and mechanical repair.
SYSTEMS KNOWLEDGE: Demonstrated understanding of industrial boilers, air compressors, and water purification (RO) systems.
CERTIFICATION: Boiler Operator certification is highly preferred (company-sponsored certification available).
SOFTWARE: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and maintenance management tools.
COMMUNICATION: Professional demeanor with the ability to work effectively with internal teams and external vendors.
