Transportation Manager
Location: Dallas, TX
The Transportation Manager oversees the daily movement of finished goods and manages all outbound delivery operations. This role is responsible for fleet safety, regulatory compliance, and leading a high-performing team of drivers and dispatchers in a fast-paced, refrigerated manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Logistics Leadership: Direct all dispatching, routing, and vehicle tracking to ensure timely deliveries.
Team Management: Oversee the hiring, training, and performance management of drivers and office staff.
Compliance & Safety: Maintain strict adherence to DOT, FMCSR, FSMA, and OSHA regulations.
Safety Programs: Develop and enforce comprehensive Driver Safety and equipment maintenance programs.
Administrative Oversight: Manage transportation records, fuel levels, and insurance claims.
Quality Assurance: Partner with internal departments to ensure SQF, HACCP, and Food Safety standards are met.
Strategic Coordination: Negotiate equipment rates and manage scheduling with external partners.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Experience: 5–7 years of transportation management experience in a manufacturing environment (food industry experience preferred).
Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of leasing contracts, truck licensing, and fleet safety implementation.
Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office, D365, KRONOS, and ELD software.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; bilingual (Spanish) is a plus.
Credentials: Class A CDL is preferred but not required.
Work Environment:
Setting: Must be comfortable working in a wet, refrigerated environment (approx. 38°F).
Physical: Ability to stand for long periods and work in a diverse environment.
Flexibility: Must be able to work various shifts (days, nights, weekends, and holidays) as needed to support 24/7 operations.
Screening: Successful completion of background and drug screenings is required.
