Overview:
Our enterprise API platform is powering digital healthcare capabilities through a modern microservices architecture. The Senior Business Analyst plays a critical role in ensuring requirement clarity, documentation rigor, and delivery readiness across platform initiatives.
This role is responsible for transforming ambiguous business and technical discussions into structured, build-ready artifacts that engineering teams can execute against with confidence. The position operates at the intersection of business capability definition and technical execution.
Key Responsibilities:
Requirements & Documentation
• Author and maintain detailed Product Requirements Documents (PRDs) for platform capabilities and domain microservices
• Extract and clarify ambiguous requirements from stakeholders, architects, and engineers
• Document workflows, system interactions, data flows, and integration patterns
• Define functional and non-functional requirements
• Capture edge cases, constraints, and acceptance criteria
Role Purpose:
• Ensure clear and comprehensive Product Requirements Documents (PRDs)
• Maintain accurate and current backlog artifacts (epics, features, stories)
• Complete required governance documentation (e.g., BIAs)
• Identify cross-service dependencies and risks early
• Reduce ambiguity before development begins
This role does not serve as a Product Owner but is expected to operate with high ownership over requirement definition and documentation quality.
API & Microservices Alignment
• Collaborate with architects and engineers to define API contracts (request/response models, validation rules)
• Document cross-service interactions across Experience, Process, and System APIs
• Identify and document integration dependencies
• Ensure requirements align with platform standards including security, gateway validation, and domain ownership principles
Governance & Compliance
• Complete Business Impact Assessments (BIAs)
• Produce required governance and intake documentation
• Ensure traceability between requirements, design, and delivery artifacts
Backlog & Delivery Support
• Maintain Jira epics, features, and user stories
• Ensure backlog remains accurate and 1–2 sprints ahead with refined work
• Support refinement sessions and sprint planning
• Update tickets throughout delivery to reflect scope changes or clarifications
Required Experience
• 7+ years of experience as a Business Analyst in a technical environment
• Experience working with APIs and microservices-based architectures
• Proven ability to independently author comprehensive PRDs
• Experience defining REST-based integration requirements
• Experience completing BIAs and governance documentation
• Strong Jira experience
• Ability to engage confidently in system design discussions
Preferred Experience
• Healthcare or regulated industry experience
• Experience with API gateways and event-driven systems
• Familiarity with domain-driven design concepts
• Experience working within cloud-native architectures
Success Criteria
• Engineers are not blocked due to unclear or incomplete requirements
• PRDs clearly define scope, constraints, and integration expectations
• Governance artifacts are completed accurately and on time
• Backlog remains organized, refined, and current
• Ambiguity is resolved prior to development
Behavioral Expectations
• Operates with ownership and accountability
• Challenges unclear assumptions
• Thinks in systems, not isolated features
• Communicates with precision and structure
• Collaborates effectively across technical and business stakeholders
