Job Description
Position Title: Staff Accountant, Revenue Accounting - Americas
Location: Dallas, Texas
Your role
As the Staff Accountant – Revenue Accounting for the Americas Region, you will support accurate and timely recognition of revenue for recurring and non-recurring services. Working under the guidance of senior accountants and accounting leadership, you will assist with journal entries, reconciliations, and analysis related to revenue accounting, while collaborating with billing, finance, and operations teams. This role is ideal for someone with strong attention to detail, foundational accounting knowledge, and an eagerness to grow within a fast-paced environment.
What you’ll do
Support the revenue accounting function for Americas data center properties, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and corporate policies.
Prepare low moderately complex journal entries and reconciliations.
Analyze and present accurate, data-driven financial analysis related to revenue performance, contract trends, and operational trends, including KPIs, to department leadership.
Support the identification and mitigation of financial risks associated with revenue recognition, including timely issue escalation.
Maintain prescribed financial controls, close timelines, and processes to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, U.S. GAAP, and internal policies. Identify opportunities to optimize processes and enhance reporting efficiency.
Develop a strong understanding of ASC 606 and ASC 842, and properly apply revenue recognition standards to complex customer contracts, multi-element arrangements, and recurring revenue models.
Actively support internal and external audits related to areas of responsibility, ensuring timely and accurate financial information is provided.
Contribute to transformation initiatives, including identifying areas for automation, reporting enhancements, and process streamlining in partnership with stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes.
Participate in the implementation and optimization of accounting software and tools to improve efficiency and reporting quality.
Ensure data integrity between subledgers, ERP systems, and revenue tools; collaborate with IT and systems teams to troubleshoot and resolve discrepancies.
Work closely with Property and Operations teams, as well as cross-functionally with Corporate Accounting, Finance, Legal, Treasury, and Tax, to ensure alignment and effective communication on financial matters.
What you’ll need
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
- Active CPA certification required.
- 1-3 years of relevant accounting experience in public accounting or within dynamic, high-growth environments.
- Understanding of ASC 606, and ASC 842, including its application to recurring services and multi-element arrangements.
- Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, internal controls, and SOX compliance.
- Experience in a large, publicly traded company and the data center, telecom, SaaS, real estate or other recurring-revenue industries is highly preferred.
- Ability to roll up sleeves and work with team members in a hands-on management capacity to deliver required results.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across functional departments and with department leadership.
- Proficiency with Blackline, accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., Yardi, Oracle, SAP, or similar). Advanced proficiency in Excel and data analysis; ability to work with large data sets and complex contracts.
- Prior software implementation experience highly preferred.
- Organizational skills, detail-oriented mindset, and a high sense of urgency.
