The Vice President, Legal – Labor & Compliance (“LC Counsel”) will lead CyrusOne’s employment law function and serve as the primary legal advisor on workplace issues across the company. This role is responsible for providing strategic guidance and practical support on complex employee relations, workplace investigations, employment litigation, and compliance with labor and employment laws globally as applicable. The role is also responsible for ethics hotline management, anti-corruption policy enforcement, and fostering a culture of integrity and ethical decision-making. The LC Counsel will be a trusted advisor to the Chief People Officer and the Human Resources leadership team, and will work closely with the EVP, General Counsel, and other senior leadership, to balance legal risk with business objectives and to support organizational growth.

Responsibilities:

Employment Law and Employee Relations

  • Provide legal counsel on employee relations matters, including performance, discipline, separations, and accommodations

  • Oversee and guide workplace investigations to ensure consistent, fair, and compliant outcomes

  • Partner with HR leadership to design and maintain compliant policies, handbooks, and training, reflecting the challenges inherent in applying global rules in certain jurisdictions and translating across unique cultures

  • Monitor developments in employment law at federal, state, and international levels to inform executive decision-making and ensure proactive compliance

  • Manage employment litigation and pre-litigation matters, including oversight of outside counsel to ensure quality, efficiency, and cost effectiveness

Risk Management and Compliance

  • Drive continuous improvement of global compliance program

  • Oversee the Company’s ethics line, including intake, triage, investigation coordination, and resolution tracking

  • Collaborate with Legal, HR, and Risk teams on sensitive workplace matters, regulatory inquiries, and enforcement of ethics code and anti-corruption policies

Compensation

  • Lead the legal support for the Company’s various compensation programs, including bonus plans, commission plans, and equity compensation programs

  • Partner with HR leadership to design compensation strategies compliant with global pay laws, including wage and hour, sales incentive, and pay transparency regulations

Strategic Leadership

  • Advise the Chief People Officer, EVP GC, and other executives on employment law risk and workforce strategy, including communications support on change initiatives and major organizational updates

  • Align workforce strategy with business and people objectives

  • Translate legal requirements into actionable solutions that support business objectives and align local execution with global strategy

  • Represent CyrusOne with regulators and external stakeholders as needed

  • Mentor and develop HR and Legal team members to enhance employment law capability

Qualifications:

  • 10 or more years of employment law experience, including at least 3 years in a senior in-house counsel or law firm partner role

  • Expertise in complex employee relations, workplace investigations, and litigation strategy

  • Proven experience advising executives and managing sensitive workplace issues

  • Background in technology, real estate, or data center industries preferred

  • International experience preferred

  • Strong strategic and business acumen with the ability to balance risk and opportunity

  • Excellent communication and influencing skills with executives and employees at all levels

  • High integrity, discretion, and sound judgment

  • Leadership presence with the ability to mentor and develop others

Education / Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school

  • Active membership in at least one U.S. state bar, with preference for Texas
