Chief Technology Officer (CTO)

Location: Dallas, TX
Compensation: competitive base salary + annual performance bonus opportunity
Position Overview
A rapidly growing, privately held organization is seeking an experienced and innovative Chief Technology Officer to establish and lead its enterprise technology strategy during a significant period of growth.

This is an executive leadership position responsible for the organization's overall technology direction, leadership structure, investment strategy, risk posture, and long-term capabilities.

This is not a traditional Head of IT or hands-on technology position. The CIO/CTO will lead through senior technology leaders responsible for key functional areas while partnering directly with the executive team on broader business strategy, capital investment, capacity, growth, and organizational planning.
Key Responsibilities
  • Define and execute a three-to-five-year enterprise technology strategy aligned with company growth and business objectives.
  • Establish direction for enterprise platforms, systems, architecture, data, cybersecurity, software, and emerging technology capabilities.
  • Own major build, buy, and partner decisions across the technology portfolio.
  • Partner with executive leadership on capital planning, capacity planning, strategic initiatives, customer commitments, and long-range business planning.
  • Lead, develop, and hold accountable director-level technology leaders.
  • Design an organizational structure capable of scaling with continued company growth.
  • Build leadership and succession depth throughout the technology organization.
  • Own the company's enterprise technology risk and governance posture.
  • Provide executive oversight of cybersecurity, IT controls, data governance, and AI governance.
  • Oversee major technology investments, enterprise platforms, and strategic vendor relationships.
  • Manage technology investment across multiple functions as an integrated enterprise portfolio.
  • Represent the organization's technology strategy and capabilities with executive leadership, customers, auditors, partners, and other external stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
  • 15+ years of progressive technology leadership experience.
  • Previous experience as a CIO, CTO, or equivalent senior technology executive within an organization of meaningful scale.
  • Demonstrated experience leading through director-level or senior functional leaders.
  • Experience participating in company-level decisions involving capital, capacity, growth, strategic planning, and customer commitments.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and communicate multi-year technology strategy to executive and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience representing technology strategy, investment, risk, or governance with boards, senior executives, strategic customers, or external auditors.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise cybersecurity, technology controls, data governance, and emerging technology governance.
  • Experience managing significant enterprise technology investments and strategic vendor relationships.
  • Demonstrated success scaling technology capabilities in a rapidly growing organization.
Preferred Experience
  • Technology leadership within manufacturing, industrial, infrastructure, engineering, or another capital- or asset-intensive environment.
  • Experience supporting organizations undergoing rapid growth, operational expansion, or significant transformation.
  • Experience overseeing multiple technology disciplines rather than specializing exclusively in software development.
  • Proven success building and developing senior technology leadership teams.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent professional experience.

Advanced degree such as an MBA or MS is preferred but not required.
Leadership Profile
The successful candidate will combine enterprise technology depth with executive-level business judgment. This individual should be comfortable operating with senior executives on strategic and financial decisions while developing leaders who own day-to-day technology execution.

The organization is seeking an executive who can establish long-term direction, make disciplined investment decisions, build scalable leadership structures, and ensure technology capabilities mature at the pace of the business.
