Senior Oracle Database Developer
Type: Contract

Work Setting: Remote (TX)
We are seeking an experienced Senior Oracle Database Developer to design, enhance, and maintain complex enterprise applications and data solutions. This is a highly technical, hands-on opportunity requiring advanced expertise in Oracle SQL/PLSQL, SQL performance optimization, JSON data within Oracle, and SQL Server.
The Senior Oracle Database Developer will work closely with development, project management, and business teams to deliver high-quality applications, data processes, and reporting solutions. The position requires the ability to work independently on complex development assignments while participating in an Agile software development environment.
Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, enhance, and maintain database-driven enterprise applications using SQL/PLSQL.

Develop complex, highly optimized Oracle queries with a focus on SGA, PGA, and TempSpace utilization.

Design solutions for storing, querying, and manipulating JSON data within Oracle databases.

Develop and optimize stored procedures, views, and complex queries accessing JSON-formatted data.

Support SQL Server and other relational database environments.

Support ETL, data integration, data mapping, and reporting processes.

Perform development testing, unit testing, troubleshooting, and technical documentation.

Collaborate with application developers and troubleshoot issues involving Java and .NET application code.

Participate in Agile development activities throughout the SDLC.
Required Qualifications

8+ years of advanced Oracle SQL and PL/SQL experience, including concepts such as bulk collect and JSON data handling.

8+ years developing complex, optimized Oracle queries with experience reducing SGA, PGA, and TempSpace utilization.

8+ years of SQL Server experience.

8+ years of development/unit testing and technical documentation experience.

8+ years working within Agile development environments.

4+ years storing, querying, and manipulating JSON data within Oracle database tables.

4+ years developing complex queries and views using JSON-formatted data.

4+ years optimizing stored procedures and views that access JSON-formatted data.

Strong understanding of relational databases, data integration, ETL, and data mapping.

Ability to independently troubleshoot complex database and application issues.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Jasper Reports and ETL tools.

Knowledge of JIRA and Bitbucket.

Experience with Nomad.

Experience with the Texas Student Data System (TSDS).

Ability to understand and troubleshoot Java and .NET application code.

Public-sector or large enterprise application development experience.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a senior-level database developer with deep Oracle SQL/PLSQL expertise who is particularly strong in query optimization and Oracle JSON data processing. You are comfortable taking ownership of complex database development assignments, diagnosing performance issues, and collaborating across technical and business teams to deliver reliable enterprise data solutions.
