Senior .NET Application Modernization Developer — Hybrid in Fort Worth
CornerStone Technology Talent Services is seeking a senior, hands-on .NET developer to help assess and modernize a mature VB.NET application into a modern C#/.NET solution.
This is not a simple code-conversion project. We are looking for someone who can reverse-engineer a legacy application, uncover embedded business rules and dependencies, determine what functionality must be preserved, and design a secure, maintainable, and supportable modern replacement.
Key responsibilities include:

Analyze and document an existing VB.NET/.NET Framework application

Identify business-critical functionality, dependencies, integrations, and technical debt

Design a modern C#/.NET and ASP.NET Core architecture

Develop a phased modernization approach that protects ongoing production operations

Apply modern practices such as dependency injection, async programming, automated testing, modern logging, and secure configuration

Document technical findings, recommendations, risks, and migration plans

Collaborate with technical teams and business stakeholders to validate requirements and scope
Required experience:
-
Strong professional experience with C#, modern .NET, and ASP.NET Core

Ability to read, troubleshoot, and support legacy VB.NET applications

Demonstrated legacy application modernization, refactoring, or replacement experience

API and systems-integration development
-
Strong software engineering, testing, source-control, and CI/CD practices

Excellent technical documentation and analytical skills
Additional preferred experience:

SSRS and SSIS
-
RabbitMQ or similar messaging technology

HTML5 and jQuery
-
Mission-critical, government, public-safety, law-enforcement, or regulated environments

Computer-Aided Dispatch or CentralSquare applications
Position details:

Contract engagement from August 2026 through January 2027
