Telecom OSS/BSS Functional Architect

Work Setting: Onsite
Work Schedule: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM EST
We are seeking a highly experienced Telecom OSS/BSS Functional Architect to lead end-to-end functional architecture initiatives supporting the modernization of complex telecommunications operations environments. This role will play a key part in transforming legacy OSS/BSS platforms into modern, cloud-aligned architectures while ensuring seamless business operations across order management, provisioning, service fulfillment, and service assurance.
The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise with the Ericsson Telcordia OSS suite, strong knowledge of telecom business processes, and a proven track record leading large-scale modernization and digital transformation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities

Define end-to-end functional architecture for enterprise OSS/BSS modernization initiatives.

Analyze current-state (AS-IS) telecom business processes and design future-state (TO-BE) architectures aligned with modernization objectives.

Lead functional design across order management, service provisioning, activation, dispatch, and service assurance.

Evaluate and rationalize complex OSS integrations, interfaces, and data flows across multiple interconnected systems.

Develop capability models, functional requirements, gap analyses, and phased migration strategies.

Support transformation initiatives involving legacy mainframe and distributed platform environments.

Design system decomposition strategies to transition monolithic applications toward modern service-based architectures.

Collaborate with business stakeholders, network engineering, application teams, and third-party vendors to ensure successful solution delivery.

Establish functional architecture standards, governance, and best practices across enterprise transformation programs.
Required Qualifications
-
15+ years of experience within telecommunications OSS/BSS environments.

Extensive experience designing end-to-end functional architecture for large-scale telecom transformation initiatives.

Strong expertise with the Ericsson Telcordia OSS suite, including:

Deep understanding of telecom service fulfillment and operational workflows.

Experience modernizing legacy mainframe (z/OS) and distributed (Linux/Solaris) environments.

Strong knowledge of telecom business processes, including:

Experience performing functional gap assessments, capability modeling, and migration planning.

Proven ability to design modernization strategies including rehost, replatform, and reengineering approaches.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with experience working across business and technical teams.
