Overview

We are seeking an Assistant IT Manager to join a well-established and forward-looking organization in Dallas, TX. This role is designed to support the current IT Manager, who has been with the company for 20 years, with the clear potential to transition into the IT Manager role in the future. The ideal candidate is a technically strong professional who is ready to step into leadership, with excellent communication and soft skills to bridge technical and non-technical teams.

This is a hands-on, in-office role with exposure to a complex enterprise environment and a strong career growth path into IT leadership.




Responsibilities
  • Support the IT Manager in overseeing daily operations of an 8 10 person IT team (analysts, programmers, infrastructure).
  • Gain exposure to both on-premises and cloud (Azure IaaS) environments, assisting in management of hybrid systems.
  • Participate in project planning and execution across infrastructure, applications, networking, and security initiatives.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to team members while continuing to stay hands-on technically.
  • Assist in vendor coordination and management of external development partners.
  • Support enterprise monitoring, backup/redundancy projects, and security posture improvements.
  • Help maintain strong communication between IT and business leaders, ensuring technical concepts are explained in clear, non-technical terms.
  • Contribute to long-term planning and be prepared to step into a larger leadership role.

Technical Environment
  • Cloud & Infrastructure: Microsoft Azure (IaaS), VMware, Dell EMC SAN
  • Applications: 100+ ASP.NET applications
  • Databases: Microsoft SQL Server
  • Networking & Security: Cisco firewalls, Mist APs, CrowdStrike MDR
  • End-User Tools: Microsoft 365 suite (heavy Excel use), Teams, SharePoint, Exchange, OneDrive
  • Helpdesk: TrackIT and custom workflow applications
  • Monitoring: SolarWinds and customized alerting
  • Innovation: AI-driven automation, DevOps with Azure pipelines & Git

Qualifications
  • Bachelor s or advanced degree in a technology-related field
  • Minimum of 3 7 years of progressive IT experience in infrastructure, networking, systems, or applications.
  • GPA required please provide with your application.
  • Relevant certifications (Azure, Cisco, Microsoft, PMP, etc.) strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to grow into leadership roles mentoring, project coordination, or team lead experience.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft environments, networking/security, and enterprise applications.
  • Desire and aptitude to move into management in the near future.
