The Opportunity
We are seeking a seasoned Mechanical Engineer to lead the design, innovation, and operational strategy of advanced data center infrastructure. This role is foundational to delivering scalable, high-performance environments optimized for dense compute workloads, energy efficiency, and resiliency.
You will serve as the in-house authority on mechanical systems, guiding strategy across HVAC, liquid and immersion cooling, airflow optimization, and thermal management for hyperscale environments. This is a leadership role for an engineer who thrives at the intersection of innovation and execution pioneering next-generation cooling technologies, collaborating across disciplines, and setting engineering standards that will shape tomorrow s data centers.
Responsibilities
- Define and lead the mechanical engineering vision for high-density compute facilities with a focus on efficiency, scalability, and innovation.
- Oversee design, construction, commissioning, and operations for mechanical systems across large-scale programs.
- Drive adoption of advanced cooling strategies, including liquid-to-chip, immersion cooling, rear-door heat exchangers, phase-change, and AI-driven thermal modeling.
- Collaborate with electrical and controls engineering teams to ensure fully integrated system architecture.
- Develop and enforce internal standards for mechanical design, documentation, and QA/QC procedures.
- Lead root cause analysis for system failures, implementing resilience strategies to maximize uptime.
- Manage vendor relationships, system specifications, testing protocols, and maintenance practices.
- Develop monitoring tools and dashboards to enable predictive maintenance and continuous optimization.
Requirements
- Bachelor s or Master s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 12+ years of experience in data centers, mission-critical facilities, or hyperscale environments
- Expertise in thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and CFD modeling
- Experience with GPU-accelerated environments and advanced cooling strategies
- Strong communication skills with proven team leadership experience
- Bonus: Background in scaling mechanical systems to meet rapid demand growth
