Desktop Engineer Endpoint Deployment & Imaging Specialist
Location: Fort Worth & Coppell, TX
Type: 6-Month Contract-to-Hire
Position Summary
We re seeking a Desktop Engineer to support enterprise endpoint deployments and configuration with deep expertise in SCCM and Intune. This role is responsible for engineering and maintaining modern Windows client images, building and testing deployment task sequences, integrating drivers and applications, and overseeing day-to-day automation and troubleshooting across all endpoints. We need a hands-on engineer who understands the inner workings of enterprise client management systems, scripting, and image lifecycle from creation to deployment and post-deployment optimization. M365 administration, compliance policies, and conditional access live with the system administrators. This role is all about engineering and execution.
Key Responsibilities
Endpoint Imaging & Configuration
- Design, build, and maintain custom Windows 10/11 OS images and deployment task sequences using SCCM and/or Intune Autopilot
- Develop automated installation routines for applications, drivers, and patches
- Own the imaging and reimaging processes across the enterprise;manage hardware-specific driver integration
- Validate image deployments and troubleshoot imaging failures across diverse device models
- Ensure images meet security hardening and performance requirements prior to deployment
- Support integration of device provisioning workflows with Intune, Autopilot, or hybrid environments
Device Management & Engineering Support
- Troubleshoot advanced desktop issues (hardware, OS-level, post-image performance, application conflicts)
- Partner with Service Desk teams to provide Tier 3 escalation support
- Deploy and maintain software packages via SCCM, PDQ Deploy, or similar endpoint tools
- Manage update and patch cycles across enterprise endpoints, including testing and validation
- Maintain and improve existing PowerShell scripts or develop new ones to support deployment automation and configuration consistency
- Provide engineering support for mobile device management (iOS/Android) within a corporate environment
Collaboration & Documentation
- Maintain documentation for build procedures, deployment workflows, image testing plans, and script libraries
- Partner with infrastructure and security teams to ensure endpoint alignment with enterprise standards
- Contribute to planning and implementation of hardware refreshes and new endpoint technology rollouts
Qualifications & Experience
- 3+ years of hands-on experience engineering enterprise endpoint environments (not administration)
- Strong experience with SCCM, Intune, or Autopilot for image deployment, task sequences, and application packaging
- Deep knowledge of Windows 10/11 configuration, deployment automation, and image lifecycle management
- Proficiency in PowerShell scripting and automation of desktop management tasks
- Experience with driver injection, task sequence troubleshooting, and imaging optimization
- Familiarity with endpoint telemetry and performance analysis tools
- Exposure to enterprise MDM environments and hybrid device management models (Intune + SCCM)
- Experience supporting mobile devices (iOS/Android) a plus
- Microsoft certifications (MD-102, MS-100/101, or equivalent) preferred but not required
