Data Center Engineer (Mid-Level to Senior)

Location: Oklahoma City, OK (On-Site)

Job Type: Full-Time




Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Center Engineer (Mid-Level to Senior) to join a dynamic team supporting a mission-critical data center environment in Oklahoma City, OK.

In this role, you will play a key part in the operations, maintenance, and continuous improvement of an enterprise-class data center, ensuring optimal performance, availability, and scalability. You will contribute to both day-to-day operations and strategic infrastructure projects, supporting a modern hybrid environment that underpins core business services.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Data Center Engineer with a strong background in hardware, networking, server administration, and virtualization, who enjoys working in a collaborative and hands-on technical environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform hands-on installation, configuration, racking, cabling, and decommissioning of servers, network devices, and storage equipment.
  • Execute hardware upgrades, repairs, and replacements to maintain optimal data center performance.
  • Maintain accurate inventory and asset management records for data center equipment.
  • Configure and troubleshoot network devices (switches, routers, firewalls);optimize connectivity within the data center.
  • Administer and support Linux and Windows Server operating systems, including patching and troubleshooting.
  • Manage and support virtualized environments (VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Monitor data center environmental conditions (power, cooling, humidity);respond to alerts and maintain optimal operating conditions.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and utilize monitoring tools to proactively identify and resolve potential issues.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex hardware, software, and network issues;act as an escalation point for junior team members.
  • Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and document corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional IT teams (Network, Systems, Security, Applications) to ensure seamless operations.
  • Contribute to strategic data center infrastructure projects, including technology evaluations and capacity planning.
  • Develop and maintain clear documentation for data center procedures, configurations, and diagrams.
  • Promote data center best practices, security policies, and operational standards.
  • Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to provide 24/7 support for critical data center infrastructure.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field;or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 7 years of progressive experience in a Data Center Engineer or similar IT infrastructure role.
  • Proven hands-on experience with enterprise-grade server hardware (Dell, HP, Cisco UCS).
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing protocols such as OSPF/BGP).
  • Demonstrable experience with Linux (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu) and/or Windows Server operating systems.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware ESXi, Hyper-V).
  • Relevant certifications preferred (CompTIA Network+, Server+, Linux+, CCNA, VCP).
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
