Location: Oklahoma City, OK (On-site)

Job Type: Direct Hire / Full-time

Salary Range: $90, 000 - $130, 000 annually, depending on experience

About the Role
Our client is seeking a talented Data Center Engineer to join their growing team. This is a key role within the infrastructure operations, supporting and evolving the critical data center environment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical foundation and the ability to assume increasingly complex responsibilities as they progress toward a senior-level role.

You ll contribute to maintaining high availability, performance, and security while supporting a variety of strategic initiatives and infrastructure projects.

Key ResponsibilitiesInfrastructure Management
  • Perform installation, configuration, racking, cabling, and decommissioning of servers, network devices, and storage equipment.
  • Execute hardware upgrades, repairs, and component replacements.
  • Maintain accurate inventory and asset management records.
Systems & Networking Support
  • Configure and troubleshoot network devices (switches, routers, firewalls);optimize internal connectivity.
  • Provide support for Linux and Windows Server environments, including basic administration and patching.
  • Work with virtualization platforms such as VMware or Hyper-V for deployment, management, and troubleshooting.
Operations & Monitoring
  • Monitor data center environmental conditions (power, cooling, humidity);respond to alerts and maintain optimal conditions.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance to maximize infrastructure longevity.
  • Use monitoring tools to proactively identify and resolve performance issues.
Troubleshooting & Incident Response
  • Diagnose and resolve complex hardware, software, and network issues;serve as an escalation point for junior team members.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate across IT teams (Network, Systems, Security, Applications) to ensure smooth operations.
Project Contributions
  • Lead or participate in data center projects (design, implementation, testing).
  • Assist in evaluating and selecting new technologies.
  • Contribute to capacity planning and forecasting efforts.
Documentation & Process Improvement
  • Develop and maintain clear documentation for procedures, configurations, and network diagrams.
  • Promote best practices, security standards, and operational excellence.
  • Identify and contribute to process improvements and automation opportunities.
On-call Support
  • Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to support 24/7 data center operations.
QualificationsEducation
  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field or equivalent practical experience.
  • Relevant certifications (e.G., CompTIA Network+, Server+, Linux+, CCNA, VCP) are highly desirable.
Experience
  • 4-7 years of experience in data center or similar IT infrastructure roles.
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise-grade server hardware (e.G., Dell, HP, Cisco UCS).
  • Strong understanding of networking (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing protocols such as OSPF/BGP).
  • Experience with Linux (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu) and/or Windows Server environments.
  • Experience working with virtualization technologies (e.G., VMware ESXi, Hyper-V).
