Job Description:
This role combines client leadership, business development, and team mentorship, with a clear path toward becoming a visible market leader and representative—“the face”—of the firm’s municipal advisory practice.
The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, proven client management skills, and a demonstrated ability to grow business while developing junior professionals, along with a genuine interest in and commitment to serving the public sector and government clients.
Key Responsibilities
Client Leadership & Advisory
Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned municipal advisory clients
Lead the delivery of municipal advisory services, including financial strategy, debt issuance support, and ongoing advisory engagements
Build and maintain long-term client relationships grounded in trust and high-quality service
Represent clients in interactions with internal teams, external professionals, and stakeholders
Business Development & Sales
Actively solicit new business, including:
Expanding services to existing clients
Developing relationships with prospective clients and securing new engagements
Develop and execute strategies to grow the firm’s municipal advisory practice
Meet or exceed defined sales and revenue goals
Participate in proposals, presentations, and client pitches
Leadership & Staff Development
Provide day-to-day guidance and oversight to junior staff
Serve as a job performance coach, including mentoring, feedback, and professional development planning
Lead by example in technical execution, client service, and business development
Support training initiatives and help build a strong internal pipeline of municipal advisory talent
Practice Representation & Market Presence
Grow into a role as a visible leader and representative of the firm in the marketplace
Attend and participate in industry conferences, client meetings, and networking events
Contribute to the firm’s reputation through thought leadership and relationship building
Operational & Administrative Responsibilities
Oversee engagement management, including scope, timelines, and deliverables
Ensure accurate and timely billing and revenue tracking
Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements applicable to municipal advisors (e.g., SEC/MSRB rules)
Support internal reporting and practice management activities
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in finance, public administration, economics, or related field (advanced degree preferred)
Registered Municipal Advisor Representative (Series 50) or ability to obtain
Must obtain the Municipal Advisor Principal qualification (Series 54) within six (6) months of joining the firm
5–10+ years of relevant experience in municipal finance, public sector advisory, or related field
Demonstrated success in client management and business development
Strong understanding of municipal debt structures, capital planning, and financial advisory services
Proven ability to mentor and develop junior staff
Knowledge of and/or strong interest in public sector finance, government operations, and serving municipal clients

The compensation range for this role is $119,000 - $275,390. Actual compensation is influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to skills, experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
