Job Description:
This Manager-level role serves as a trusted individual contributor responsible for overseeing principal tax compliance processes, managing client records, and ensuring accuracy and efficiency across critical workflows. The position requires a high level of discretion, strong organizational skills, and the ability to anticipate and address operational needs proactively. By partnering closely with principals, leadership, and cross-functional teams, this role drives service excellence, maintains compliance standards, and leads process improvements that strengthen overall team performance.
Responsibilities:
Relationship & Confidentiality Management
- Cultivate and manage relationships with principals, serving as a trusted advisor while exercising discretion and maintaining strict confidentiality.
- Act as a key point of contact on principal tax-related matters, ensuring clear communication and professionalism.
- Collaborate with team members and cross functional teams to ensure alignment in following best processes.
Tax Compliance Oversight
- Oversee and coordinate electronic filing (e-filing) of tax returns and extensions, ensuring compliance with deadlines, regulations, and firm standards.
- Review, assemble, and validate tax documents such as returns and extensions, ensuring accuracy and completeness before submission.
Record & Information Management
- Direct processes for maintaining client records, both digital (e.g., GoFileRoom) and physical, ensuring secure storage and efficient retrieval.
- Partner with onsite teams as needed to support physical document requests, audits, and compliance requirements.
- Ensure accuracy and consistency of data within internal systems, driving high-quality reporting and documentation integrity.
Workflow & Process Management
- Design, implement, and manage workflows to support tax operations, including tracking deliverables, monitoring deadlines, and coordinating team activities.
- Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency and strengthen processes, proactively addressing operational challenges.
- Document processes to ensure consistency and scalability across the team.
Operational Excellence & Special Projects
- Lead initiatives and special projects that improve service delivery, optimize compliance practices, and align with evolving business needs.
- Collaborate with colleagues and leadership to anticipate needs, close service gaps, and deliver high-quality outcomes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of experience in tax compliance, administration, or professional services.
- Strong knowledge of tax deadlines, e-filing, and compliance requirements.
- Proven ability to manage complex workflows and meet tight deadlines with accuracy.
- Proficiency in document management systems (e.g., GoFileRoom) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong relationship management skills with the ability to work effectively across teams and with leadership.
- High level of discretion and judgment in handling confidential information.
- Track record of driving process improvements and operational efficiency as an individual contributor.
