The lead accountant position is responsible for accounting and reporting of the pension, postretirement, postemployment, and deferred compensation plans. The role requires knowledge of GAAP accounting and benefits accounting. This role is responsible for preparing annual financial statements and audit support for each of the savings, pensions, and umbrella benefit plans, with coordination with Treasury, Tax, HR Benefits, Legal and other stakeholders. The role is also responsible for monthly and quarterly journalizing and reconciling of entries related to these plans and to ensure compliance with GAAP.

Additional tasks:

  • Prepares plan financials, including statements of net assets and statement of change in net assets for the pensions, savings, and umbrella plans

  • Coordinate with auditors, HR Benefits, Finance, Tax, and Treasury through the annual plan audit process

  • Prepare the pension footnote for the 10-Q and 10-K, including documentation, calculations, and GAAP checklists

  • Support external and internal audits as required

  • Prepares journal entries, maintains and reconciles ledger accounts

  • Manages record of assets, liabilities, and financial transactions

  • Ensure controls are in place and adhered to for all parts of the process.

  • Account Balance Reconciliations/Balance Sheet Analysis

  • Develop and maintain detailed M&Ps for all processes.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree - Accounting

  • Master’s degree or CPA

Location: Dallas, Texas

Relocation assistance is not available.

Ready to work 3-5 days in the office per week.

The position requires strong data analytic and system skills. Software packages utilized:

  • Microsoft Office (primarily Excel )

  • Power BI (preferred)

  • Business Objects

Job Contribution:

  • Works on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors.

  • Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criterion for obtaining results, and resolves problems.

Our Lead Accountant, earn between $118,800 - $ 178,200 . Not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
